Real Estate SEO Keywords That Bring Agents Clients
Which real estate searches are worth a page on an agent's site, how often each is made and what advertisers pay per click, worked through for Austin.
The real estate SEO keywords worth an agent’s site name a place: your town beside “realtor” or “real estate agent”, and each suburb and neighborhood you sell in beside “homes for sale”. Searches without a place are answered by where the searcher is standing. “Realtor near me”, made 90,500 times a month in the US, gets a map of the agents nearby, and “homes for sale near me”, made 368,000 times, gets Zillow, Redfin and the other portals.
Here is one market worked through: Austin, with how often each search is made in the US in a month, what advertisers paid for a click on it in September 2026, and the page that wins it.
Choosing an agent: your homepage and your Business Profile
| Search | Searches a month | Per click |
|---|---|---|
| austin realtor | 1,900 | $10.27 |
| austin real estate agent | 1,000 | $11.44 |
| real estate agents in austin | 590 | $22.21 |
| best realtor in austin | 260 | $10.68 |
Advertisers pay four to nine times as much for these clicks as for a home search, because each one is a person picking an agent. Google answers them with the map: on 28 September, “austin realtor” showed Realtor.com, Zillow’s agent directory and then three brokerages’ profiles, with 939 to about 1,600 Google reviews each. These searches are won by your Business Profile and by a homepage whose title puts your town beside “realtor”. The first two share that homepage: their maps showed two of the same three brokerages, so a second page for the second phrase would only split them.
Homes in a place: a page for each place
| Search | Searches a month | Per click |
|---|---|---|
| homes for sale austin tx | 22,200 | $2.50 |
| round rock homes for sale | 4,400 | $3.22 |
| cedar park homes for sale | 2,900 | $1.83 |
| mueller homes for sale | 720 | $1.82 |
| austin luxury homes for sale | 480 | $2.67 |
| zilker homes for sale | 140 | $2.15 |
The city-wide search is the biggest and not an agent’s to win: its links on the same day were Zillow, Realtor.com, the local MLS’s own home search, Redfin, Trulia, Homes.com, Movoto and Christie’s. The only Austin firm on the page was in Google’s AI answer, which cited Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group’s guide to the city’s cheaper ZIP codes. An agent’s page competes in the suburbs and neighborhoods. For “mueller homes for sale”, Compass’s Mueller page was third, between Zillow and Trulia.
Each of those searches gets a page of its own, titled with the search, “Mueller Homes for Sale”, with the live listings on it and what only an agent there knows: which streets sell first, the schools, what sold and why. Link each one from your homepage. Those pages are what our real estate SEO services build on an agent’s site, from what the agent knows about each place. A luxury segment works the same way on fewer searches, and luxury real estate SEO covers its pages.
Moving there: a guide for each question
| Search | Searches a month | Per click |
|---|---|---|
| best neighborhoods in austin | 2,400 | $1.74 |
| austin housing market | 2,400 | $2.89 |
| living in austin | 1,600 | $1.98 |
| moving to austin | 480 | $6.58 |
These clicks cost less: the people behind them are still deciding where to live, and choosing an agent comes later. They are worth a page each all the same, because the buyer who reads your answer to “best neighborhoods in austin” knows your name when they start touring homes. A housing market page is worth its searches only if it’s updated every month.
Selling: read page one before you chase the price
| Search | Searches a month | Per click |
|---|---|---|
| sell my house fast austin | 210 | $22.54 |
| we buy houses austin | 110 | $90.12 |
| sell my house austin | 50 | $253.50 |
The highest price on the list is not a listing agent’s. Page one for “sell my house austin” was Opendoor, a map of companies that buy houses for cash and more cash buyers below it: the people typing it want a fast sale. The seller who wants an agent searches for one, “listing agent near me” at 1,300 a month and $15.68 a click across the US, or picks one from the map.
Find your own town’s numbers
Google’s Keyword Planner gives how often a phrase is searched and what advertisers pay for it. It sits inside a Google Ads account, which asks for billing details before it opens. Put in the patterns above with your own places: “[town] realtor”, “[town] real estate agent”, “homes for sale [town]”, “[neighborhood] homes for sale”, “moving to [town]”, “[town] housing market”.
Then search each one on your phone and read page one before you trust its number. A map means people choosing an agent, and your profile and homepage win it. Nothing but portals means the search is theirs. A local firm’s page for the place means yours can rank there too. Check that the name means your place: “tarrytown homes for sale” is searched 2,900 times a month, and most of its page one is about Tarrytown, New York.
The map side of the list, your profile and its reviews, is in local SEO for real estate agents. Once your pages are live, Search Console shows which searches each one appears for, and those are the numbers to plan the next page from.
